FC Astoria (Germany) in Temecula

TVSA Hawks soccer club hosted the German club FC Astoria the week of May 20th.  Hawks players from the BU16/17 Academy team had 2 German players stay with them for the week.  The German team toured Temecula and Southern California.  The highlight of the week was 2 International Friendly scrimmage games with the Hawks BU16/17 Academy team and later in the week with the Galaxy Academy team.  The friendly game was played at Birdsall Sports Park on Monday, May 20th before a big crowd of soccer fans and young players.  Afterwards El Ranchito Taco Shop on Winchester Rd hosted both the Hawks and FC Astoria players.  The German team will also be spending a week in Washington DC before heading home.

 

Hajar Benjoud Trains with IMG Soccer Academy


Hawks GU13 player Hajar Benjoud spent her spring break in Bradenton, Florida at the prestigious IMG Soccer Academy.  During the training Hajar impressed the coaches enough to be asked to play in a game with the Academy U14 team.  Again performing well the coaches have invited Hajar to play and attend school at the Academy full time.  Her parents, Veronica and Omar will be spending some time to make that decision.  Hajar has been inspired by Hawks GU17 player Sha’Mya Williams who has been at Bradenton for the last 2 years.  Sha’Mya spent time with Hajar while she was at Bradenton and has encouraged Hajar to work hard on the field and in school.   While deciding on her future, Hajar will continue to train with various Hawks teams to keep herself fit and on top of her game.

Coach Omar and Soccer Without Borders

TVSA Hawks donated Hawks soccer jerseys to the Los Angeles/Riverside branch of Soccer Without Borders. This group works with refugee children and displaced American families, integrating them into the community through the game of soccer. Hawks coach Omar Benjoud works with these players, through camps and games. They are many different ages and come from many different backgrounds, the common theme is soccer. The Hawks will continue working with Omar and Soccer Without Borders with the hope of having Hawks coaches and players do some soccer training together.

BU13 White Orange County Tournament of Champions Finalists

Hawks BU13 White played in the Orange County Tournament of Champions in December. The boys made it to the championship game against the Pateadores and without any subs they came up short. The team will next be playing in the Hawks tournament in January 2013 and preparing for Hawks BU14 tryouts in February.

BU11 White Win Presidio AA-B Tournament

Hawks BU11 White team won AA-C in Presidio this year with an undefeated season. The coach, Andrew Smith decided to challenge the team and play up a level in AA-B for the Presidio Cup.. The Hawks sailed through the tournament and won a hard fought final 2-1 against AYSO Matrix Bonita. Congratulations Hawks!

BU11 White Win Presidio AA-C League

Andrew Smith's TVSA Hawks B11 White team finished their first regular season together with a 12-0 record, to earn the championship in Presidio AA-C! The team only gave up 5 goals in 12 games and finished the season with 6 straight shut outs. A great experience overall with great group of players and super supportive parents! The team has progressed throughout the season and looks forward to our post season tournaments and growing next year when we move up a level of play.

GU15 Black Win Presidio AAA League

TVSA Hawks GU15 Black coached by Nik Laytart won their league season in Presidio AAA. These players also won league last season and are working on continually moving up in their level of play. The players are now on break from the Hawks as most of them will be representing their high schools before returning for Post Season tournaments and State Cup .

GU15 Red Finish Runner Up in Presido AA-A League

Hawks GU15 Red coached by George Elias was runner up in Presidio AA-A for the 2012 league season, missing out on the league title by 1 point. This Hawks team has been competing for 3 years, adding new players each year, but with many of the original players remaining on the team. Each year they have advanced to a higher level of league play and competed well winning 1 championship and 2 runner-up finishes. Most of the players will be playing for their respective high schools for the next few months and then they will return to finish off their post season play, including State Cup.

German BU16 Team Training with Hawks in May

Hawks is very exciited to announce that David Halliday's BU16 team will be hosting the FC-Astoria Walldorf team from Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany in May 2013. The team and their coach Sven Stadtrecher will be in Temecula for a week training and scrimmaging our team, along with some other fun things they have planned on and off the soccer field. In the future we hope to do an exchange with one of our teams, having the opportunity for them to travel to Germany! The team will be in Temecula 5/17-5/26 when they will the travel to Washington DC. before returning home.

HAWKS Recognition and News

This has been a busy month for DOC David Halliday and many Hawks players.  David has recommended and several players have been identified for honors and recognition.  Following are those players:

1999 Girls:  The following girls were called into a US Soccer Training Camp at UC Riverside.  The camp was held in February and the camps purpose is to identify players for future National teams.  Congratulations to players Miah Conde, Ashley Johnson and Lydia Buggs.

1999 Boys:  The following boys just participated in the US Club Soccer National Selection Camp in Carlsbad, CA.   The purpose is to identify players for National and Regional teams.  These players are Jesus Gomez, Joel Figueroa, Noah Lopez and Taylor Perales.

2000 Boys:  The following boys were identified to participate in the Young Olympians Summer Pool.  This is for young players to be seen and participate together before their ODP years.  They will train in Ventura for 2 weekends this summer.  Those players are Darnell Carachure, Diego Ochoa and Jacob Johnston.

In addition the last few weekends our older boys and girls have been participating in Hawks coach Greg Morales College Winter Academy.  The players have had the opportunity over several weekends to be seen by 10 college coaches.  This is open to all high school players but Hawks players receive a discount as they are subsidized by the club.  Also some of our BU15 and BU16 players had the head UC Riverside coach run their training session in late February.  The older girls will have their training session this week run by the Southern Utah University coach (7 PM, March 15th) and late in the month by the Cal Berkley Coach (7 PM, March 29th).  These sessions are all at Birdsall and our younger players should come out and observe them.

Our U14 and older teams are preparing for State Cup and Nationals this month.  Good luck to all of them!
