GU10 Red So Cal Cup Champions
Congratulations to the GU10 Red for their finalist appearance in the SoCal Cup. The girls started their fine effort with a close 2-1 win against Freedom. In their second game they tuned up their offense and ran away with a 9-1 victory against the Breakers (Blue). In their third game the defense was put to the test. The Breakers (Black) put everything into their attack but were turned away resulting in a 0-0 draw advancing both the Hawks and the Breakers (Black) into the Championship match.
The Championship match was a very exciting and well played game by both teams. The Breakers gained the advantage with a goal at the end of the first half. Not giving up and showing patience and tenacity, the Hawks put in the equalizer late into the second half sending the game into Penalty Kicks. With both sides enthusiastically supporting their sides, the nerve racking process took place with the Breakers edging out the Hawks 4-3. It was a thrilling game for the team and the results were well deserved.
Thanks to Coach Omar and Coach Ari for doing a superb job of preparing the girls for the tournament. And as always thanks to all the parents, family and friends of the Hawks for their outstanding encouragement and positive support for the team. Keep up the good work and we look forward to your future successes.
